The UAE climate is one of the most demanding environments on earth for water storage equipment. UV radiation degrades polymers. Polyethylene and other plastics break down under sustained UV exposure, becoming brittle and losing structural strength. Without proper UV stabilisation additives, a polyethylene tank exposed to UAE sunshine will show surface cracking, chalking, and eventual structural failure within 3 to 5 years.

The concentration of UV stabiliser required for reliable 10 to 15 year service in the UAE is higher than for European or North American market specifications. This is one reason why imported tanks not specifically formulated for Gulf conditions may fail prematurely.
Thermal insulation: 5-layer polyethylene tanks provide meaningful thermal insulation that reduces the temperature of stored water during summer. This is relevant to occupant comfort and to the suitability of stored water for direct use.
Chemical inertness: Polyethylene is chemically inert to the desalinated water supplied through UAE municipal systems and does not leach harmful substances into stored water when food-grade inner layer specifications are used.
