Hot Press GRP Sectional Panel Tanks in UAE
Modular GRP water tanks assembled on site from hot pressed panels, in capacities from small plant rooms to very large reservoirs. This page sets out the panel sizes, materials, insulation, reinforcement systems, partition tanks and installation requirements.

What Is a Hot Pressed GRP Sectional Tank?
A hot pressed GRP sectional tank is built from standardised glass fibre reinforced plastic panels that are moulded under high temperature and pressure. The panels are bolted together on site, with a sealing tape in each joint, and braced with stainless steel and hot dip galvanized steel reinforcement. The same panel set can be arranged into many capacities, heights and footprints, which makes the system a practical answer where a single moulded tank cannot be delivered or lifted into place.
KHAZAAN supplies hot press GRP panel tanks for villas, towers, hotels, labour camps, factories and infrastructure projects across the UAE. This page sets out the technical specification of the panel system. Contact us to confirm the specification and availability for your project.
For a general introduction, read our guide to sectional GRP panel tanks, or see the panel tank size chart to work out the capacity of a layout.
Characteristics
The special features of the hot pressed GRP sectional water tank.
Intensity and Durability
The glass fibre reinforced panel is moulded under high temperature and pressure to give the best endurance. Stainless steel is used for the internal structure and hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel outside, for the best performance against corrosion.
Excellent Hygiene
The panels do not corrode, and isolating the stored water from outside light prevents bacteria from increasing.
Heat Insulation and Dewdrop Prevention
A heat insulation panel with a 3 layer structure improves the insulation effect, protects the tank from dewdrops and minimizes temperature variation of the stored water.
Watertightness
Panel joints are sealed with a special sealing tape developed for water tanks.
Dimensional Accuracy
Panel sizes do not change with outside conditions, so the tank can be assembled accurately.
Various Capacity Design
Panels in many sizes let the tank use a limited space in the best way.
Easy to Assemble and Transport
Sectional panels shorten construction time. Standardised panels are easy to move, carry in and transfer.

Insulation matters most for exposed rooftop tanks in UAE summer heat. See why tank water gets hot in summer.
Partition Type Water Tank
A partition tank divides one tank into two sections. It removes unusable space and makes the most of a basement or other confined area.
Maximum capacity utilization
In a basement or other confined area, unusable space is eliminated and the maximum space is used.
Various usage
One section can hold drinking water and the other service water, for example for fire fighting.
Easy maintenance
Two tanks can be installed and maintained as one unit.
Cost effectiveness
The cost and installation of one partition tank is cheaper than two individual tanks.
Example
If two tanks for different uses are needed in a confined area or boiler room, a 16 ton partition tank can be installed with half for drinking water and half for service water. If separate tanks are installed instead, two tanks of a maximum of 6 tons each are possible, because 1 m must be left between tanks for maintenance and operating space.

Preparation for Installation
Base concrete plinth standards, installation space and cautions.
Base concrete plinth standards
| Item | Standard |
|---|---|
| Width | 300 to 400 mm |
| Outer dimension | Tank width and length + 400 mm |
| Height | Over 600 mm (base frame included) |
| Spacing between plinths | Less than 1 m |
| Horizontal degree | Less than 1/500 (surface must be flat and level) |

Installation space
For maintenance and repair, leave at least 600 mm from the walls and 1,000 mm below the ceiling of the tank room. The example below is for a 3 m x 4 m x 2 m tank.

Installation scope
- Base concrete plinth. The customer makes the base concrete to the design specification and the strength of the site. Anchor bolts are fixed by the tank installer.
- Concrete strength. At least 180 kg/cm2. The mortar on the base concrete must not exceed 20 mm.
- Sockets. If the customer specifies socket sizes for plumbing, the installer fits the sockets. After that, plumbing and heat insulation are done by the customer.
- Space. Leave 600 mm in each direction around the tank for maintenance.
Cautions
- Transportation. Do not place heavy loads or force on the panels. Parts touched by rope or other cargo must be cushioned.
- Pipe installation. Do not put heavy weight on pipes connected to the fitting. Start pipe installation from the tank side and avoid unbalanced weight on the fitting. Take fire precautions when welding.
- Maintenance. If the tank will not be used for a long time, drain it. Because it stores water for consumption, inspect it regularly, more than twice a year.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hot pressed GRP sectional panel tank?+
It is a water tank assembled on site from standardised GRP (glass fibre reinforced plastic) panels that are moulded under high temperature and pressure. The panels are bolted together with a sealing tape in every joint and braced with stainless steel and hot dip galvanized steel parts. Because the tank arrives as panels rather than one shell, it can be built in confined spaces.
What panel sizes are available?+
Wall panels come in 1000 x 2000, 500 x 2000, 1000 x 1500, 500 x 1500, 1000 x 1000, 300 x 1000, 500 x 1000 and 500 x 500 mm. Bottom panels are 1000 x 1000, 500 x 1000 and 500 x 500 mm. Roof panels are 1000 x 2000, 1000 x 1000, 500 x 1000 and 500 x 500 mm. Drain and manhole panels are 1000 x 1000 mm. Panel shapes can change without notice.
How tall can a sectional tank be?+
The panel system allows side wall compositions from 1 m up to 5 m high, in steps of 0.5 m, built by stacking the standard panels.
Can the tank be insulated?+
Yes. Panels are available insulated or non insulated. An insulated panel has a 3 layer structure with a rigid polyurethane foam core of 25 to 40 mm between GRP skins. Its thermal conductivity is 0.02 Kcal/m.hr.C, compared with 0.15 for standard GRP and 37.0 for steel.
How are the panel joints kept watertight?+
Each joint is sealed with a special PVC or EPDM sealing tape that is compressed between the panel flanges by the assembly bolts. Bolt caps are added to the external bolts to prevent white peril or rust.
What are the bolts and steel parts made of?+
Internal reinforcement and roof bolts are stainless steel (SUS 304 or SUS 316). External brackets, bars, corner frames, ladders and the base frame are SS41 steel, hot dip galvanized. Bolt sizes are M10, M12 and M14.
Do I need internal reinforcement inside the tank?+
It depends on the system and the water height. With the external reinforcement system, there are no internal reinforcement parts up to 3 m water height, which avoids rusting. Above 3.5 m water height the internal parts are optimised to keep maintenance and cleaning easy.
What loads and temperatures is the tank designed for?+
The design standards cover hydrostatic pressure (water height in metres x 0.1 kgf/cm2), horizontal seismic load Kh = 2/3 and vertical Kv = 1/3, wind, and snow load. Water temperature is suitable up to 50 C and dusty environments up to 70 mg/m3. Confirm the design loads for your site with KHAZAAN before ordering.
What is a partition type water tank?+
It is one tank divided by a partition panel into two sections. One section can hold drinking water and the other service water, such as for fire fighting. A typical example is a 16 ton partition tank used as 8 tons of each. Two separate tanks in the same room would be limited to about 6 tons each, because 1 m must be kept between tanks for maintenance.
What base does a panel tank need?+
The tank sits on concrete plinths 300 to 400 mm wide and over 600 mm high including the base frame, spaced less than 1 m apart. The plinth layout is the tank width and length plus 400 mm and must be level to within 1/500. The base concrete must be at least 180 kg/cm2 and the mortar layer no more than 20 mm thick.
How much space should I leave around the tank?+
At least 600 mm from the walls and 1,000 mm below the ceiling of the tank room, so the tank can be inspected, maintained and repaired.
How often should a panel tank be inspected?+
Regular inspection more than twice a year is recommended, because the tank stores water for consumption. If the tank will be unused for a long time, drain it. See our guide to water tank cleaning and maintenance for the cleaning schedule.
Is a GRP panel tank suitable for drinking water?+
The panel material test data on this page shows nil toxicity, nil micro biological growth and 0% light transmission. For potable use in the UAE, confirm the approvals that apply to your project with KHAZAAN before ordering.
How much does a GRP panel tank cost?+
Panel tank prices depend on the capacity, panel and reinforcement specification, insulation, and site conditions, so they are quoted per project. Send your capacity or available dimensions on WhatsApp for a quotation.
